If Favre voluntarily sat because he is injured, would he get back some respect from those who hate the drama?

If he selflessly concedes his startin and relinquishes the streak and allows the Vikings to take their best chance at winning would he earn back some of the respect he lost? I think it should but that is just my opinion.
