Why is it not okay to take the ten commandments out of a courthouse but you can burn the Koran?

One is done by private citizens, the other is institutionalizing a single religion. In America, people have the right to be stupid. But they don't have the right to make a statue of their stupidity and put it on display in the courthouse.
