Acoustic or electric?

i want to start playing guitar before high school (8th grader) but im torn between electric or acoustic, i like bands like KoRn,slipknot,Rudra etc. but my friend who is a guitar player (can play electric and acoustic) says i should get acoustic first because acoustic is easier and that i will have more experience when i switch to electric, i know my question is confusing as hell. but i need help
