Advice on writing a notice of resignation?

i'm leaving my job and i have started writing my letter of resignation. i have addressed it to my line manager but also wish to forward a copy to HR. it might sound straightforward but i wasnt sure whether i should address it to the HR manager or just the HR department since I don't really know the manager personally?
