Toddler's lips purple?

My 1 year old has what appears to be a bruise in the middle of his top and bottom lip. It's very purple and its just in the center of each lip. He has been walking around knawing on his pacifier so I umed that was the cause but tonight when he was wrestling with my husband he was kind of wheezy and his whole lip top and bottom turned purple. It really scared me! I don't know what it is. I'm going to take him to the doctor in the morning but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?
